Audition: Feature Film "BeerFest" @ Bettie Mae Casting.
Cool! I've been seeing these guys at workshops for a while now. It will be good to finally get to audition for them! I actually postcarded the office for this film last month and I do pretty regular drops there...I wonder if I'm getting called in off of that stuff?? Workshops, postcards and to some extent, drops are all a main part of my strategy here in LA...hopefully it's paying off. It's funny, you never know...you just have to believe that at then end of the day all your efforts add up to something and that no positive work is in vain. It's also a pretty good role for me the BD says "Think a slender Mo'nique". One of my friends always says that I'm too funny to be so skinny. He always says "you're a big girl trapped in a little girls body...Hollywood don't know what to do with you." I told him they better figure it out...cause I'm here :)

This audition went soooo well. I really think I'm right for this role. I read with Venus, who I'd met previously at Actorsite. I couldn't tell if she remembered me and I didn't ask. She was cool though and extended her hand to me as soon as I walked in the room (some CD's have a real problem with being touched). I added some adlibs, which I'm finally becoming a little more comfortable with (In the theater they drilled it into our heads to do the dialog as written down to the smallest article!). I only do it in film auditions when it seems appropriate (comedy's especially seem to embrace this) or when CD or Director indicates it's cool to do it. Anyway it was big broad comedy and I think I really worked it. I really feel like I'm starting this year off on a good note. Awesome! The film shoots in Albuquerque and is being distributed by Warner Brothers.
